You can board the Zaanboot on the Pontplein, right behind Amsterdam Central Station on the Ruyterkade: Steiger 14. This is the location of the former Connexxion Fastferry. The Zaanboot also departs from the Zaantheater in Zaandam.
Also Pedestians and bikers can cross the waters between Amsterdam and Zaandam Again.
Every two hours, a historical IJ-ferry sails between the Zaantheater in Zaandam and Amsterdam Central Station. There is a stop near the Hembrugterrein.
The costs per person is €3, Children under 12 and bikes are free.
The Zaanboat sails every weekend from 2 may to 1 october.
The service is a good option to visit Zaandam and discover the Zaanstreek. If you want to visit the Zaanse Schans, take this boat to the Zaantheater and switch to the Zaanhopper Boat, which will bring you to the Zaanse Schans.
